About
Also known as: U2 - Until The, U2 Kiwi, 유투
Few bands have reshaped their sound as dramatically as U2 without losing the audience entirely. The Dublin four piece, built around Bono's big sky vocals and the Edge's effects drenched guitar chime, spent the 1980s becoming one of the biggest live acts on the planet, with The Joshua Tree in 1987 cementing their status as genuine international superstars. That album alone has sold 25 million copies and gave them their only US number one singles, With or Without You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Rather than coasting, they blew up their whole aesthetic at the start of the 1990s, diving into alternative and electronic sounds on Achtung Baby and wrapping it all in the zoo TV spectacle. Later reinventions were more mixed, but their live operation never really slipped. The 360 degree tour they ran from 2009 to 2011 held the record for both attendance and gross until 2019, and in 2023 they opened the immersive Sphere venue in Las Vegas with a residency built around Achtung Baby.
