New York based producer and singer Devon Karpf, who records as underscores, has carved out a genuinely distinct space by mixing hyperpop with pop punk, indie rock, and Midwest emo in ways that feel personal rather than genre bingo. Her debut album Fishmonger landed in March 2021 and made enough noise to pull in co signs from Travis Barker and land on The Atlantic's top ten albums of that year. She followed it with the Boneyard AKA Fearmonger EP, which features Barker on drums and leans into an apocalyptic mood she developed after a five month creative block post Fishmonger. Her second album Wallsocket came out in September 2023 on Mom + Pop, drawing inspiration from Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Sufjan Stevens, and horror films. It was rolled out with an alternate reality game and a tour across North America and Europe. In 2026 she released her third studio album, U.
