About
Voxtrot were one of the acts that basically defined the blog rock era, riding the wave of early MP3 blogs to become one of indie pop's most talked about names before most people had even heard them on a proper radio. The Austin band's 2005 debut EP Raised by Wolves got Spin and Pitchfork buzzing, with Spin calling it a stunning mini collection of jangly, Strokes y pop. Their self titled full length followed in 2007, a record that showed real ambition even if it didn't quite land the way they'd hoped, and they kept releasing singles including the synth pop leaning Trepanation Party, recorded with Jim Eno of Spoon, before calling it a day in 2010. The reunion story is a good one though. After a 2022 comeback tour and a batch of archival releases, Voxtrot actually got back in the room and started writing again. They dropped their first new single in fourteen years, Another Fire, in September 2023, followed quickly by New World Romance, suggesting the band found something worth sticking around for.
