Wendy Eisenberg makes the kind of music that sits comfortably nowhere and everywhere at once, threading experimental instincts through folk and singer songwriter territory in ways that feel genuinely surprising. Their self titled 2026 album, produced alongside Mari Rubio and released through Joyful Noise Recordings, earned universal acclaim and a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork, which called it a "daring" record driven by Eisenberg's "compositional intelligence". Critics at The Quietus described it as "oneiric country pop and folk rock" with a dreamy, time shifting sound, while The Skinny praised how Eisenberg can "roam freely without ever losing the thread". The album draws from a period of real personal reckoning, with Eisenberg often addressing their younger self across its songs, touching on PTSD, sexual assault, and a journey toward self acceptance. It grew out of an improvisation first writing process, Eisenberg frequently starting from a simple guitar riff before building outward. The result is something Pitchfork described as "quietly euphoric, watchful, alive with anticipation".
