With over 50 million records sold and 227 gold and platinum certifications, Anastacia is one of those artists who dominated charts everywhere except her own backyard. The Chicago born singer built her fanbase across Europe, Oceania, Asia and beyond, while the US mostly shrugged. Her secret weapon is a voice so raw and soulful that record labels initially couldn't figure out how to market a white woman who sounded like a Black soul singer. She calls her own genre "sprock", a fusion of soul, pop and rock that became her signature. Her debut single "I'm Outta Love" launched her into the mainstream in 2000, followed by a string of albums that showed real range. "Left Outside Alone" from her 2004 self titled record sat at number one across European charts for 15 weeks. She has kept pushing through serious illness, switching labels and musical directions, releasing a covers album of male rock songs in 2012 and most recently Our Songs in 2023, reinterpreting German songs in English.
