One of the most vocally gifted members of the Spice Girls, Melanie C turned her Sporty Spice fame into a genuinely impressive solo career. Her debut album Northern Star sold over 4 million copies worldwide and produced two UK number one singles, "Never Be the Same Again" and "I Turn to You". That second track even picked up a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording via Hex Hector's remix. She founded her own label, Red Girl Records, after parting ways with Virgin, giving her real creative control over subsequent records. Since then she has kept releasing music on her own terms, with albums spanning from The Sea in 2011 through to her self titled record in 2020. Her ninth solo studio album Sweat, released in 2026, debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart, making it her highest charting solo effort and the highest charting solo album from any Spice Girls member. Outside music, she also made her West End debut in Blood Brothers and earned an Olivier Award nomination for it.
