About
Also known as: August Turns Red
August Burns Red have been one of the most consistent forces in metalcore since their Lancaster, Pennsylvania scene days, and the lineup of Jake Luhrs on vocals, guitarists JB Brubaker and Brent Rambler, bassist Dustin Davidson, and drummer Matt Greiner has held solid since 2006. Their 2007 album Messengers was the turning point, hitting number 81 on the Billboard 200 and topping the Christian albums chart, establishing them as a genuine crossover act within heavy music. They later picked up back to back Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance, first for "Identity" off the 2015 record Found in Far Away Places, then for "Invisible Enemy" from Phantom Anthem in 2017. Their catalogue spans full throttle metalcore alongside some unexpected detours, including a cover of Britney Spears's "...Baby One More Time" for the Punk Goes Pop 2 compilation and a beloved annual tradition of Christmas releases. Drummer Matt Greiner is a particular focal point for fans of the technical side of their sound, and his drum playthroughs have become a draw in their own right.
