Bazart built their reputation on a simple but ambitious idea: making Dutch language pop music feel exciting and relevant to Belgian audiences. The Ghent group broke through with the single Goud, which spent almost a full year in the Flemish Ultratop 50 and sat in the top 10 for 45 weeks straight, a record at the time. Their debut album Echo landed at number one in Belgium within a week of release, and they went on to sell out venues like the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and Paradiso in Amsterdam. Founded by vocalist Mathieu Terryn and singer guitarist Simon Nuytten, the band has consistently delivered chart topping singles, including Maanlicht, which sat at number one in the Flemish Top 50 for 16 weeks, and Geef mij alles, their first ever number one hit in the Netherlands. Along the way they picked up a stack of MIA awards, collaborated with artists like Eefje de Visser and S10, and even launched their own record label named Echo to support new talent alongside their own releases.
