Benny Sings, the stage name of Dutch musician Tim van Berkestijn, has been quietly building one of the most versatile careers in pop since his 2003 debut Champagne People. His sound pulls from hip hop, jazz and soul, and his fingerprints are all over the work of other artists too. He co wrote Rex Orange County's beloved track "Loving Is Easy" in 2017, then co produced the whole of Rex Orange County's album Who Cares? in 2022, which debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200. He has also written and produced for Mac DeMarco, Tom Misch, GoldLink, Mayer Hawthorne and Free Nationals, and even composed songs for the anime Carole & Tuesday. His own 2023 album Young Hearts, released on Stones Throw Records and co produced with Kenny Beats, is the tenth studio album under his belt. It shows a musician who keeps finding new collaborators and new angles without losing the warmth that made him stand out in the first place. On top of all that, he recorded a cover of "Time After Time" for the 2025 tribute album Chet Baker Re:imagined, a fitting nod given that his very stage name is itself a reference to Chet Baker Sings.
