Caoilfhionn Rose describes her early sound as "folk edelia", and that tag still feels apt for the Manchester singer songwriter and producer who blends folk warmth with psychedelic textures. Signed to Matthew Halsall's Gondwana Records, she released her debut album Awaken in 2018 and followed it with Truly in 2021, co produced by Keir Stewart of The Durutti Column. That second record earned a "vibrant, subtly strange" write up from The Arts Desk, and its lead single "Flourish" was named a Clash Track of the Day. Her 2024 album Constellation marked a real shift, pushing her sound into jazzier and more ambient territory, with piano set against synths, saxophone and live drums. Musicians from Mammal Hands and The Cinematic Orchestra appear on the record, and she has cited The Cinematic Orchestra's Ma Fleur as a key reference. More recently she has collaborated with Danish jazz duo Svaneborg Kardyb and with Slowly Rolling Camera, showing that her musical curiosity keeps pulling her in new directions.
