About
Chelsea Wolfe has built one of the most distinctive sounds in heavy alternative music, weaving together gothic rock, doom metal, folk, and dark electronic textures in ways that feel genuinely her own. Her early albums The Grime and the Glow and Apokalypsis earned her an underground following and critical attention, while later records like Abyss and Hiss Spun pushed further into neofolk and heavy metal territory. Sleep paralysis experiences from her youth fed directly into the atmosphere of those albums, giving them an unsettling, visceral edge. She has never been one to stay in a single lane. She collaborated with hardcore heavyweights Converge on Bloodmoon: I and contributed to the soundtrack for the 2022 film X alongside composer Tyler Bates. Her 2024 album She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She marks her latest step forward, and recent audio and video releases including Tunnel Lights, Everything Turns Blue, and House of Self Undoing suggest she has been in an especially productive stretch lately.
