Daniel Avery built his reputation as one of the more adventurous figures in British electronic music, someone who treats the dancefloor and the headphone listen as equally serious propositions. His 2013 debut Drone Logic arrived fully formed, a driving blend of techno and house that showed real depth, and his 2018 follow up Song for Alpha pushed things further out, nudging toward ambient and experimental territory shaped by his work with producer Volte Face and synthesizer composer Alessandro Cortini. That Cortini connection blossomed into the collaborative album Illusion of Time in 2020. His 2022 album Ultra Truth brought in a striking cast of voices including Kelly Lee Owens, HAAi, Marie Davidson and SHERELLE, giving the record a different texture again. He released the single Lone Swordsman as a tribute to his mentor Andrew Weatherall, donating Bandcamp proceeds to Amnesty International.
