Das Pop started life as Things To Come, a group of school friends from Ghent, before settling on their current name when a fifth member came on board. They won Belgium's hugely respected Humo's Rock Rally in 1998, which set them on a path toward building a fanbase well beyond Belgium. Their sound sits in a broad rock and pop territory with a darker edge, and they sing mostly in English, though they went the extra mile for German audiences by recording a German version of their hit You, titled Du. The band spent 2008 touring hard alongside acts like Soulwax, The Kills, Justice and Gossip, and played Glastonbury across three different stages in one day. Their 2011 album The Game was recorded in Hoboken, New Jersey with producer Terry Manning. After a hiatus announced in late 2012, Das Pop made a comeback in 2024, marking 25 years of their album I Love with concerts in Antwerp and Brussels.
