Few artists have racked up accolades across as many fields as John Legend. The Springfield, Ohio soul and R&B singer broke through as the first act signed to Kanye West's GOOD Music, and his debut album Get Lifted swept the 2006 Grammys, taking home Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for the ballad "Ordinary People". Before any of that, he was quietly playing piano on Lauryn Hill's "Everything Is Everything" and singing uncredited on tracks by Jay Z and Alicia Keys. His 2013 ballad "All of Me" became a commercial phenomenon, sitting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning diamond certification. Legend has now collected 12 Grammys in total, plus an Oscar, a Tony, and an Emmy, making him the first Black male EGOT recipient. His album Bigger Love won Best R&B Album, and his 2022 self titled record Legend keeps the catalog growing. Lately he has also been collaborating on family friendly music with children's educator Ms. Rachel.
