Few artists can claim a mixtape got them a Grammy nomination before they even dropped a proper debut album, but Kehlani pulled it off with You Should Be Here in 2015, a project Billboard flat out called the year's first great R&B album. Their sound sits at the crossroads of neo soul, contemporary R&B and hip hop, warm and confessional in a way that builds real loyalty. The debut studio album SweetSexySavage hit number three on the Billboard 200, and things only climbed from there, with It Was Good Until It Wasn't peaking at number two. Beyond their own albums, Kehlani landed a spot on the Suicide Squad soundtrack with "Gangsta" and appeared on Zayn's Mind of Mine. Most recently, the 2025 single "Folded" reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at the Grammy Awards, previewing their fifth album.
