About
Memphis May Fire built their name in the metalcore scene out of Denton, Texas, and their fourth album Unconditional showed just how far they'd come, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and hitting the top spot on the Alternative Albums chart. Signed to Rise Records, the band blends metalcore and post hardcore with a distinctly southern edge, a combination that sets them apart from the more polished acts in their genre. Vocalist Matty Mullins joined in 2008 and quickly became the defining voice of the group, while guitarist Kellen McGregor has been there since the beginning. Over the course of seven studio albums and two EPs, Memphis May Fire have refined a sound that swings between crushing heaviness and melodic hooks. Their debut Sleepwalking came with a self described "southern swagger", and that thread has run through everything since. One early standout moment: their track "Ghost in the Mirror" landed on the soundtrack for Saw VI, and "Action/Adventure" got picked up for Rock Band 3, both signs of a band reaching well beyond the usual metalcore crowd.
