About
I Prevail first got people's attention with a metal cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" back in 2014, which shot up the charts and eventually went platinum in the US. Not bad for a band barely a year old at that point. The Southfield, Michigan outfit plays metalcore with threads of post hardcore and alternative metal running through it, and they proved the Swift cover was no fluke when their debut album Lifelines arrived in 2016. Since then the band has kept building serious momentum. Their 2019 album Trauma landed four spots on the US album chart in its first week, the single "Breaking Down" cracked the top 10 of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, and both "Bow Down" and the album itself scored Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album respectively. Lead vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe and lead guitarist Steve Menoian have been the two constant anchors through several lineup changes, and the band has since added True Power in 2022 and Violent Nature in 2025 to their catalogue.
