About
Three voices, three countries, one Berlin base. Mighty Oaks bring together Ian Hooper from the US, Claudio Donzelli from Italy and Craig Saunders from the UK, and the combination pays off in tight three part harmonies wrapped around largely acoustic folk rock. Their 2014 debut album Howl hit the top 10 in Germany and Switzerland on Universal Records, with lyrics drawing heavily on friendship, nature and the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest where Hooper grew up. The single Brother came with a backstory about Ian's best friend and their adventures in that part of America, setting the tone for a band that writes autobiographically and treats each track like a scene in its own small film. They recorded their second album Dreamers with producer Ryan Hadlock, known for his work with The Lumineers and Vance Joy, retreating to Washington State to do it. A self released EP called Storm followed the same year. Their third album All Things Go arrived in early 2020 via BMG, and a fourth, Mexico, came out in 2021 on Sony Music. All three members sing and play multiple instruments including mandolin, banjo and piano, keeping the sound warm and layered throughout.
