Other Lives started out as Kunek back in 2004, then reinvented themselves and released their self titled debut in 2009, recorded in Los Angeles with producer Joey Waronker. The Stillwater, Oklahoma band blends folk, rock and indie sensibilities into something that sits beautifully in its own lane, led by Jesse Tabish's vocals alongside a richly layered instrumental palette that includes piano, trumpet, strings and percussion. Their 2011 album Tamer Animals put them on the map internationally, with a run alongside Bon Iver and appearances at Iceland Airwaves helping spread the word. Their 2015 record Rituals, released on Belgian label Play It Again Sam, pushed into cleaner, more textured territory. AllMusic called it "shimmery, meticulously crafted, pure pop bliss rooted in darkness," which is honestly a pretty fair description. They followed that with For Their Love in 2020, and a fifth album, Volume V, came out in October 2025.
