About
Pure Reason Revolution built their sound around the kind of sprawling, harmony drenched progressive rock that draws comparisons to Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, but with a distinct electronic edge courtesy of influences like Kraftwerk and Justice. Formed at the University of Westminster in the early 2000s, the London based group released their debut album The Dark Third in 2006, produced by Paul Northfield, the man behind records by Rush and Dream Theater. Despite getting dropped by Sony BMG that same year, they pushed on and delivered Amor Vincit Omnia in 2009, followed by Hammer and Anvil in 2010. After a lengthy hiatus, Pure Reason Revolution came back strong with Eupnea in 2020, marking a genuine creative comeback. They kept the momentum going with Above Cirrus in 2022 and Coming Up to Consciousness in 2024, suggesting the band has found a productive second wind. Core members Jon Courtney and Chloë Alper remain at the heart of the group, with founding guitarist Greg Jong back in the fold since 2021.
