Few bands can claim a chart hit that ended up soundtracking a teen movie, a royal wedding, and a beloved TV drama all at once, but "Kiss Me" did exactly that for Sixpence None the Richer. The Texas born, Nashville settled group built their sound around Leigh Nash's distinctive vocals and Matt Slocum's melodic guitar work, landing squarely in that sweet spot between pop rock, Christian rock, and jangle pop. Their self titled 1997 album put them on the map, and the follow up cover of The La's "There She Goes" kept them there, with TV appearances on Letterman and Leno cementing their mainstream moment. After disbanding in 2004 and reuniting in 2007, they proved surprisingly resilient. A Christmas album, an EP, and eventually Lost in Transition in 2012 kept the catalog growing. More recently they marked the 25th anniversary of their self titled record with a reunion of the classic lineup, and released new music in the form of the EP Rosemary Hill in late 2024.
