StillMarillion dedicates itself entirely to the Fish era of Marillion, the period in the 1980s when the charismatic vocalist Fish fronted the band. Founded in Scotland in 2008, the group recreates that sound with a level of care that goes beyond the usual tribute act routine. Frontman Martin Jakubski also sings in Steve Rothery's solo band, and his voice and stage presence bring a genuine authenticity to the material. The rest of the lineup draws on musicians with experience alongside acts such as Abel Ganz and Paul Di'Anno. Live, the band digs into the classic Marillion catalogue from that period, covering well loved tracks like Kayleigh, Lavender and Sugar Mice alongside other songs that defined the era. For fans of progressive rock from the 1980s, or anyone with a soft spot for the Fish years specifically, StillMarillion deliver the real thing.
