About
Kevin Parker is basically a one man studio operation who happens to front one of the most distinctive psychedelic acts of the past two decades. Working under the name Tame Impala, the Australian multi instrumentalist writes, records, produces, and performs everything himself in the studio, then expands to a full band for live shows. The project started in Perth in 2007 as a home recording experiment, and it grew fast. The debut album Innerspeaker landed in 2010 to serious critical love, and each release since has pushed further. Lonerism scored a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, while Currents shifted the sound toward synth heavy, almost disco tinged psychedelia and swept the ARIA Awards. Parker also won the APRA Award for Song of the Year for the hypnotic opener "Let It Happen". The fourth album The Slow Rush added five more ARIA wins in 2020. The fifth album Deadbeat arrived in 2025, bringing the remix of "Dracula" with Jennie, which became the project's first top ten entry on the US Billboard Hot 100.
