About
Few rock duos carry as much political charge as The Last Internationale. Formed in New York City by guitarist Edgey Pires and vocalist Delila Paz, the band built its reputation on fiercely socially conscious songs about Indigenous rights, working class struggle, and the abuse of power, wrapped in a sound that draws from Woody Guthrie and Howlin' Wolf as much as straight up rock. Their 2014 debut album We Will Reign, produced by Brendan O'Brien and Brendan Benson and featuring Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, landed them a slot on the Late Show with David Letterman and a support run with Robert Plant. They also joined the Who on the European leg of the Who Hits 50 tour. After parting ways with Epic Records to keep full creative control, they independently released Soul on Fire in 2019, a raw and unapologetic record that doubled down on everything that made them worth following.
