About
Under the name The Tallest Man on Earth, Swedish singer songwriter Kristian Matsson has built a reputation for raw, intimate folk music that constantly invites comparisons to Bob Dylan. Recording at home and typically capturing his voice and guitar together on a single track, his sound feels genuinely live and unguarded. His 2008 debut album Shallow Grave landed at number 47 on Pitchfork's best albums of the year, and the follow up The Wild Hunt in 2010 turned him into a fixture on the international folk circuit, earning him multiple award nominations in Sweden and a spot on Later with Jools Holland. Matsson is known for a charismatic stage presence that makes his solo setup feel far bigger than it is. He has toured extensively across North America, Europe and Australia, and his catalogue now spans seven full length albums and four EPs. Influences like Roscoe Holcomb, Emmylou Harris and Cat Power run through his work, alongside a clear love of Paul Simon, whose Graceland he has covered more than once.
