About

Trixie Whitley carries a remarkable musical pedigree as the daughter of cult guitarist Chris Whitley, and she has carved out a sound entirely her own, somewhere between blues rock, soul and alternative rock. Growing up between Ghent and New York, she absorbed music from every angle before stepping into the spotlight herself, eventually becoming the voice of Daniel Lanois' supergroup Black Dub alongside drummer Brian Blade and bassist Daryl Johnson. The spark that started it all was a recorded collaboration with Lanois on the Etta James classic "I'd Rather Go Blind" that circulated through music circles and led directly to the formation of the band. Her solo debut Fourth Corner arrived in 2013 to strong critical reception, produced by Thomas Bartlett with string arrangements by Rob Moose. She followed it with Porta Bohemica in 2015, which landed at number one on the Flemish Ultratop chart and earned a nomination for IMPALA's European Independent Album of the Year. Her album Lacuna came out in 2019, with a reimagined version following in 2020, and she has kept adding to her catalogue since.
