Record Store Day Black Friday 2026: these are the special vinyl releases

Record Store Day has announced the full release list for the 2026 Black Friday edition. The event takes place on Friday, November 27, and serves as a second moment each year, alongside the big spring edition, when music fans can snag exclusive, limited edition vinyl releases. Sales take place exclusively in independent record stores, according to reports in the United Kingdom and Ireland. That detail matters most to Dutch collectors because the list offers a good picture of what is coming out internationally and what might later turn up in Dutch shops through import channels.

Among the most eye catching titles is a new version of Florence + The Machine's recent album Everybody Scream, featuring alternative chamber versions of four songs. Shawn Mendes is releasing his MTV Unplugged session in stores for the first time, while Holly Humberstone is putting out a pressing of Live from Cruel World with two performances from her 2026 Live Lounge session for BBC Radio 1. Sombr gets his first ever vinyl release of his EP In Another Life, on silver vinyl. The list also includes releases from KATSEYE, Jessie Ware, The Coral, The Chemical Brothers and Noah Kahan, among others.

Hip hop is represented too. Playboi Carti gets the first vinyl pressing of MUSIC, SORRY 4 DA WAIT, and Tupac Shakur's Pac's Life is being reissued to mark its twentieth anniversary. For the holidays, there's a Christmas EP from Cher and A Charlie Brown Christmas by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, which comes in a limited edition with a gatefold sleeve designed like an advent calendar.

For rock fans, there's plenty to hunt down, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Bruce Springsteen is releasing Live at Tower Theater Philly 1975, a complete set with the E Street Band recorded on New Year's Eve in Philadelphia, on vinyl and CD. George Harrison appears with two later solo albums in the so called Zoetrope format: Thirty Three & 1/3 and the self titled George Harrison from 1979. There are also picture discs from Genesis and Skid Row, extra live material from Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell and Billy Idol, and a hefty Grateful Dead selection. Motörhead is putting out The Lost Tapes Vol. 8: Live at Margate, a recording from 1984, and both Motörhead and Iron Maiden get a collectible figurine. The Eagles are back too, with their single Please Come Home For Christmas and Funky New Year.

The organizers stress that the Black Friday list is deliberately smaller than the one for the main edition. According to them, the aim isn't to create a huge worldwide music celebration, but to remind people of the gift of music and how easy it is to shop at a local, independent store at the start of the Christmas season. Brandan Nolan, owner of Sticky Black Tarmac, calls the day a counterweight to the idea that Black Friday is about buying more for the sake of buying. In his view, it's about browsing at a relaxed pace in your local shop and heading home with a record you truly appreciate.

Not everyone is equally enthusiastic about how the concept has developed. Pitchfork argues that Record Store Day, founded in 2008 to help struggling record stores, has grown in recent years into a bloated event full of increasingly absurd rarities. According to the magazine, some well known shops have even dropped out over concerns about profitability and distribution. At the same time, its editors picked out thirteen releases they still think are worth getting up early for. As always, availability varies from store to store and the most limited titles come in only small pressings, so anyone after a specific record would do well to line up early.
