Any Young Mechanic are a five piece folk band from Adelaide, Australia. Their sound pulls from traditional folk but pushes toward something more experimental, drawing comparisons to acts like Black Midi and Black Country New Road. Frontman Sam Wilson sums up the ambition simply: "We're trying to make folk music for this time." Their debut album, The Modern Shoe Is Ruining The Foot, brings together acoustic instruments, classical training and modern influences, layered with cinematic imagery and storytelling. What makes it stand out is how it was recorded: after months of intensive work on the material, the band captured the whole thing live in just three days, no overdubs, no digital fixes. The result is a warm, organic record where the chemistry between the five members comes through in every arrangement.
