Charlotte Wessels spent the better part of fifteen years as the voice of Dutch symphonic metal band Delain, co writing lyrics and shaping the band's identity from its earliest days as a studio project. When she parted ways with Delain in early 2021, she wasted no time: her debut solo album, Tales from Six Feet Under, arrived that same September. She wrote, produced and played every instrument herself, in her home studio, pulling together a deliberately wide ranging sound that moves through indie pop, synth infused rock and beyond. Her second album, Tales from Six Feet Under Vol. II, followed in October 2022, and she also contributed to Epica's collaborative EP The Alchemy Project that year. Her third album, The Obsession, came out in September 2024, previewed by singles including "The Exorcism", "Dopamine" and "Chasing Sunsets". Trained in both jazz and classical singing, Wessels has always pushed against genre labels, citing influences as far apart as Radiohead, Tori Amos, Nick Cave and System of a Down.
