About
Xandria have been one of Germany's most persistent symphonic metal acts since Marco Heubaum launched the project in Bielefeld back in 1994. Their early albums, Kill the Sun, Ravenheart, and India, all charted in Germany, with Ravenheart spending seven weeks on the charts and peaking at No. 36. The band is probably as well known for its revolving door of vocalists as for its music, having cycled through Lisa Middelhauve, Kerstin Bischof, Manuela Kraller, and Dutch singer Dianne van Giersbergen before landing on current frontwoman Ambre Vourvahis. Vourvahis made her recorded debut on The Wonders Still Awaiting, the band's eighth studio album released in early 2023, and the lineup has continued pushing forward with a ninth album, Eclipse. Through all the turbulence, Heubaum has remained the constant creative force, keeping the band's sound rooted in big orchestral arrangements, operatic vocals, and heavy guitars.
