Cock Robin never quite cracked their home country, but continental Europe was a different story entirely. The San Francisco pop and soft rock duo built a devoted following across Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and beyond on the strength of beautifully crafted singles like "The Promise You Made", which hit number one in Flanders, and "When Your Heart Is Weak", their only US chart entry. Their 1985 debut, produced by Steve Hillage, went to the top of European charts while barely registering back home. Founded by singer and songwriter Peter Kingsbery, the band originally ran as a quartet before settling into the core duo of Kingsbery and Anna LaCazio. They released three albums through 1989, each finding a warm reception in mainland Europe, then split in 1990. A 2006 reunion brought them back, and LaCazio eventually stepped away in 2015, with French singer Coralie Vuillemin stepping in. The band has since released two more studio albums, Chinese Driver in 2016 and Homo Alien in 2021.
