About
Collective Soul rode one of the great rock underdog stories of the 1990s. A demo recorded in a basement in Stockbridge, Georgia got "Shine" onto local radio, and from that unexpected spark the band went from complete obscurity to a national chart hit almost overnight. Their self titled 1995 album cemented everything, spending 76 weeks on the Billboard 200 and going triple platinum, with "December" and "The World I Know" both cracking the top ten of the Hot 100. They kept the momentum going with "Precious Declaration" and "Listen" from Disciplined Breakdown, and then "Heavy" from 1999's Dosage sat at the top of the Mainstream Rock chart for a then record breaking 15 weeks. The band never really stopped. After establishing their own label, they kept releasing records well into the 2020s, with albums like Blood in 2019 and Vibrating in 2022 showing they were far from coasting on nostalgia. Their first ever double album, Here to Eternity, arrived in 2024. The core of brothers Ed and Dean Roland, along with bassist Will Turpin, has held the group together through every lineup shift across more than three decades.
