Dave Hause blends heartland rock, folk and punk in a way that feels both scrappy and earnest, a sound shaped by years in Philadelphia bands like The Loved Ones and Paint It Black before he struck out on his own. His 2017 album Bury Me in Philly, produced by Eric Bazilian of The Hooters, earned a nod from Rolling Stone for fusing punk and Americana, and marked the beginning of a proper band setup with The Mermaid, built around his brother Tim on lead guitar. Influences run the gamut from Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty to The Clash, Iron Maiden and Tori Amos, which gives you a sense of how wide his musical net is cast. Since then he has kept a steady pace, releasing Kick in 2019, then Blood Harmony in 2021 on his own Blood Harmony Records, a label he runs with Tim. That fifth album arrived with a string of singles and a making of documentary, and his sixth record Drive It Like It's Stolen followed in 2023. Whether playing solo or with The Mermaid, Hause has built a loyal following across North America and Europe through relentless touring and a knack for writing songs that feel lived in.
