Few Brazilian artists have blended MPB, samba, and jazz as naturally as Djavan. His debut album back in 1976 introduced the hit 'Flor de Lis', and he's been a constant creative force ever since, racking up a catalogue that now spans nearly fifty years and close to thirty studio records. His songs have attracted serious admirers: Al Jarreau, Carmen McRae, and The Manhattan Transfer have all recorded his compositions, and Stevie Wonder guested on his album Luz. His 1999 live album Ao Vivo moved 1.2 million copies, and his 2018 record Vesúvio landed on Rolling Stone Brazil's list of the best Brazilian albums of that year. Most recently, he released D Ao Vivo em Maceió, a live album recorded in his hometown, and a 2025 biographical musical brings his story to the stage.
