About
Also known as: DragonHeart
DragonForce describe their own sound as 'extreme power metal', and that label earns its keep. The London band built their reputation on blistering guitar solos, fantasy driven lyrics, and a production style that owes more than a little to retro video games. Founding guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman have been the spine of the group since 1999, and the revolving cast of collaborators around them has helped shape a catalog of eight studio albums. Their biggest moment came with 'Through the Fire and Flames', the lead single from 2006's Inhuman Rampage, which went gold in the US and became a cultural touchstone after appearing in Guitar Hero III. The follow up album Ultra Beatdown kept the momentum going, with 'Heroes of Our Time' scoring a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2009.
