Ice Nine Kills have built their whole identity around horror, and it works. The Boston metalcore band takes inspiration from classic horror films and literature, wrapping it in a sound that mixes aggressive riffing with strong melodic sensibility. Their name alone sets the tone, pulled from the fictional substance in Kurt Vonnegut's 1963 novel Cat's Cradle. Vocalist Spencer Charnas has been the driving force since the beginning, and was even named one of the ten best clean singers in metalcore by Loudwire in 2023. Their discography tells a clear upward story. Every Trick in the Book cracked the Billboard 200 at number 122, The Silver Scream pushed that to number 29, and its follow up The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood landed at number 18. Signed to Fearless Records, they've grown from crowdfunded EPs and Warped Tour slots into one of the more distinctive acts in modern heavy metal, recognized in 2025 as one of the greatest metal acts to form in the 2000s.
