Jon Batiste plays music like someone who genuinely believes it can change the room, and there's a track record to back that up. The New Orleans native spent seven years as bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, led impromptu street performances he called "love riots" with his band Stay Human, and co composed the Pixar film Soul alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, earning an Academy Award, a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for that work alone. His 2021 album We Are then won him Grammy Album of the Year, bringing his total to eight Grammys from 25 nominations. His collaborator list reads like a dream session: Stevie Wonder, Prince, Lana Del Rey, Lauryn Hill, ASAP Rocky, and many more. Beyond recording, he serves as Creative Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and music director of The Atlantic. More recently, he appeared in the 2024 film Saturday Night playing Billy Preston and composed its score. His 2024 project Beethoven Blues, which features a reworking of Für Elise, shows he is still happily blurring genre lines.
