About
Also known as: Josh Rouse and the Long Vacations, Rouse
Josh Rouse picked up a Goya Film Award in 2014 for Best Original Song, which is a pretty wild footnote for a Nebraska born folk and indie pop singer songwriter who started out recording in Nashville in the late nineties. His debut, Dressed Up Like Nebraska, got genuine praise from the start, with Billboard calling it a dark horse gem, and he kept building from there through a string of records that sit comfortably in the territory between country, folk rock, and something more personal and hard to pin down. A move to Spain in the mid 2000s shifted things noticeably. He settled there with his partner Paz Suay, and the influence crept into his music over time, with albums like El Turista featuring songs sung in Spanish. The two even recorded together as She's Spanish, I'm American. His song Directions turned up on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack, and he has continued releasing records well into the 2020s, most recently Streets of Your Town in 2025.
