Karol G, born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in Medellín, Colombia, has carved out a place as one of reggaeton's most dominant forces, racking up a Grammy, eight Latin Grammy Awards, and eleven Guinness World Records along the way. Her fourth album, Mañana Será Bonito, made history in 2023 as the first Spanish language album by a female artist to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200, a milestone that cemented her status well beyond the Latin market. Her collab with Shakira, "TQG", climbed to number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, her highest charting single to date. Before all that, she built her name track by track: "Tusa" with Nicki Minaj became a certified monster, hitting 28 times Latin platinum, while pandemic era cuts like "Bichota" and "Ay, Dios Mío!" kept her momentum rolling straight into her third album KG0516. Her sound moves between reggaeton, urban pop, and something more laid back, as heard on Ocean, which deliberately pulled away from the polished pop of her earlier work. More recently, "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido" found her connecting with audiences in the Netherlands and Belgium as a solo act for the first time.
