LP, the stage name of Laura Pergolizzi, built a reputation as a sharp songwriter long before most people knew her name. She penned Rihanna's party anthem "Cheers (Drink to That)" from the album Loud, co wrote "Beautiful People" for Christina Aguilera's Burlesque soundtrack, and has placed songs with Céline Dion, Cher Lloyd, the Backstreet Boys and Leona Lewis, among others. That behind the scenes credibility makes her own records feel earned rather than opportunistic. As a performer, LP brings something distinctly her own: a striking voice, a whistling signature, and a fingerpicking guitar style that suits her indie pop and pop rock sound. Her 2015 single "Lost on You" broke through internationally, and "Muddy Waters" found a second life when it closed out a season four finale of Orange Is the New Black. She also holds the distinction of being the first female Martin Guitar ambassador, which tells you something about how seriously she takes the craft.
