Rotterdam's Naomi Sharon made history in early 2023 when Drake signed her to OVO Sound, making her the first woman on the label's roster. It was her single "Breeze" that caught his ear, a testament to the quiet power of her sound, which blends alternative R&B and ambient house with touches of Afrobeats and Spanish music. Her low, smoky vocals draw frequent comparisons to Sade, and her songs circle themes of love, heartbreak, and healing. Her debut album Obsidian, a 12 track collection released in October 2023, was praised for what one critic called "an immense emotional gravitas, created to tap into or articulate the mercurial realms that exist inside of you."
