Few pop punk bands from the early 2000s left as wide a footprint as Simple Plan. The Montreal quartet built their name on anthemic, hook heavy records starting with their 2002 debut No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls, which featured guest vocals from Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte and eventually sold over four million copies worldwide. Tracks like "I'm Just a Kid" and "Perfect" became touchstones for a generation, and the band spent years grinding the Vans Warped Tour circuit to cement that fanbase. Their sound has shifted across six studio albums, moving from straight up pop punk into territory that borrows from alternative rock and even pop, with collaborations along the way featuring Natasha Bedingfield on "Jet Lag" and Sean Paul on "Summer Paradise". They have performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics closing ceremony and played "O Canada" at the 2016 NHL Winter Classic, which says a lot about how far a band from Montreal can reach.
