Few pop punk bands can claim a violin as their secret weapon, but Yellowcard built their whole identity around it. The Jacksonville outfit broke through in 2003 with "Ocean Avenue", a double platinum album that spawned one of the era's most recognizable anthems. That summer they headlined the Warped Tour, won the MTV2 award at the VMAs, and landed placements on everything from Spider Man 2 to Madden NFL. Their 2006 follow up Lights and Sounds went gold, cementing them as one of the genre's most consistent acts. After a decade of albums and lineup changes, the band released a self titled record in 2016 and called it quits. The reunion came in 2022, and they came back swinging: the Childhood Eyes EP arrived in 2023, and their eleventh studio album Better Days followed in 2025. Recent uploads show them covering Jimmy Eat World and collaborating with Hammock on a reimagined version of "Ocean Avenue", so they are clearly not coasting on nostalgia alone.
