About
Tinie Tempah built his own lane before the major labels came knocking. Growing up in south east London, he co founded his independent label Disturbing London in 2006 with Dumi Oburota, funding the whole operation partly through student loans and buying and selling cars. A scout spotted him at the 2009 Wireless Festival, where a crowd of a thousand kids were already screaming for him despite just one independent release, and that was enough to land him a deal with Parlophone. From there things moved fast. His debut single "Pass Out" went straight to number one in the UK in 2010, followed shortly by "Written in the Stars", another chart topper. His debut album Disc Overy also hit number one and went platinum. By the time he dropped "Not Letting Go" in 2015, he had six UK number ones to his name, more than any other UK rap artist, surpassing Dizzee Rascal.
