About
White Lies built serious momentum fast. The Ealing trio, Harry McVeigh, Charles Cave and Jack Lawrence Brown, deliberately held off their first gig for five months to build up hype, then signed to Fiction Records within days of playing it. Their debut album To Lose My Life... went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart in January 2009, a record steeped in dark, expansive post punk sounds that drew comparisons to Joy Division, Interpol and The Killers. Since then they have kept a steady output going across six more albums, moving through the dense atmospherics of Ritual and Big TV, the more stripped back Friends, and the synth leaning Five in 2019. Their sixth album As I Try Not to Fall Apart arrived in early 2022, preceded by the title track and the single Am I Really Going to Die. The seventh record Night Light followed in late 2025, keeping the band very much in motion.
