About
Also known as: אסף אבידן
Asaf Avidan has one of those voices that stops people mid scroll: raw, high pitched, and instantly recognizable. The Jerusalem born singer spent years fronting Asaf Avidan & the Mojos, the band he put together in 2006 with bassist Ran Nir, drummer Yoni Sheleg, guitarist Roi Peled, and cellist Hadas Kleinman. Their debut album The Reckoning went Gold in Israel, but it was a 2012 remix by German DJ Wankelmut, retitled One Day / Reckoning Song, that pushed Avidan to a much wider audience, topping charts and going Gold and Platinum across Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. After disbanding the Mojos, Avidan went solo and kept finding traction in Europe. His debut solo album Different Pulses went Platinum in France, and its follow up Gold Shadow (2015) also earned Gold there. He contributed to Goran Bregovic's Three Letters from Sarajevo in 2017, and has kept releasing material well into the 2020s, with tracks from his In a Box III project surfacing as recently as 2024.
