Dawn Landes has built a quietly remarkable career that moves between intimate singer songwriter work and much larger creative landscapes. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, she has released six full length albums, from the early dawn's music in 2005 through to ROW in 2020, a project rooted in the story of transatlantic rower Tori Murden McClure that grew out of a TED Talk she gave in 2015. Along the way her songs have turned up in House, Gossip Girl, Skins, The Good Wife and Bored to Death, and she scored two feature films. Landes is also a producer and engineer who worked at Philip Glass's personal recording studio, and she played glockenspiel and sang as part of American roots band Hem. Her French language EP Mal Habillée, done in a Ye Ye style with guest vocals from members of Nada Surf and TV on the Radio, shows the range she is comfortable with. More recently, in 2024, she recorded and toured songs from a 1971 collection called The Liberated Woman's Songbook, including an on stage conversation with Peggy Seeger in London.
