Dylan LeBlanc has a sound that feels like it was born somewhere between the swamps of Louisiana and the storied recording studios of Muscle Shoals, and that rootsy tension runs through everything he does. His 2010 debut Paupers Field announced him as a serious voice in americana, featuring Emmylou Harris on "If the Creek Don't Rise" and earning him slots opening for Lucinda Williams, The Civil Wars, and Laura Marling. His second record, Cast the Same Old Shadow, drew praise from The Guardian for songs "as beautiful as they are bleak". LeBlanc has kept pushing his writing forward across five studio albums, moving from the intimate folk of his early work through the more expansive Cautionary Tale and Renegade, the latter released on ATO Records in 2019. His most recent record, Coyote, arrived in 2023. Along the way he has shared stages with Bruce Springsteen, Alabama Shakes, and First Aid Kit, which says something about the range of listeners his alt country and americana sensibility tends to pull in.
