EST Gee, born George Albert Stone III out of Louisville, Kentucky, raps with the kind of weight that comes from living through serious things. His name stands for Everybody Shines Together, and after grinding through a string of mixtapes and building a local fanbase via YouTube, he broke through to a wider audience with his 2020 project Ion Feel Nun. Signing to Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group and Interscope in early 2021 was the turning point that put him on a much bigger stage. His fifth mixtape, Bigger Than Life or Death, debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 in July 2021, fueled by the Hot 100 hits Lick Back and 5500 Degrees, the latter featuring Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, and Rylo Rodriguez. His debut studio album I Never Felt Nun followed in 2022 and hit number eight on the same chart. The project featured heavy hitters like Future, Young Thug, Pooh Shiesty, and Lil Durk, and the trap sound throughout is uncompromising and raw.
