About
Little Barrie have built their reputation on a sound that refuses to sit still, pulling from freakbeat, garage rock, surf, krautrock, funk and UK R&B all at once. The London trio, centred on Barrie Cadogan's guitar and vocals, Lewis Wharton on bass, and Tony Coote on drums, have been at it since the early 2000s. Their third album King of the Waves leaned hard into overdriven guitars and tough rhythms, and its opening track Surf Hell found a whole new audience through the video game Rocksmith. They wrote and performed the main title theme for Better Call Saul in 2015, probably their most widely heard piece of music. Their fourth album Shadow pushed deeper into psychedelia, fuzz and reverb, and after the death of drummer Virgil Howe in 2017, they regrouped with Malcolm Catto for the albums Quatermass Seven and Quatermass expansion. The collaboration continued on Electric War in 2025. Outside the band, Cadogan has played live with Morrissey, Primal Scream and Edwyn Collins, who also produced the debut We Are Little Barrie back in 2005.
